This issue comes up often. So I decided to use eSEES -- a Graphical and Scripting User Interface for #OpenSees -- to demonstrate it and its simple solution. Rigid-diaphragm constraints induce extra axial forces into yielding beams that results in an increased bending capacity due to the P-M interaction of a fiber section. In this video I demonstrate the effects, and present a simple solution. This solution can be implemented in #OpenSees, and it's easy to implement in eSEES!!! I always say that each tool has its strengths. Tcl is great for building models and running #OpenSees analyses, with real-time visualization. Python is great for post-processing and data visualization. So, I am adding Python post-processing scripts to the eSEES output. The user can now use the scripts as they are, or customize them. These features will be in the next release of eSEES, which should be soon. If you buy it now, you can enjoy the current low price and you are still eligible for the update!
